Minutes of the Gopher Flats Sportsmen's Club for 26 May 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Maurice Potani, substituting for the absent President Dave Larson, who then lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Membership Chairman Phil Prokop introduced guests Patty Clark and Doug Clark, Larry White and Don Bucksar.

Recording Secretary's Report (Minutes)

There were no additions or corrections to the minutes which were approved as presented.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer's Report was given by Treasurer Dennis Robinson. The previous month's income was a net loss of $97. The tax return was completed and mailed. Accounting fees were $500 less than last year. One pallet of biodegradable clay pigeons were purchased for investigation purposes. They are about 10% cheaper than normal ones but will be tested before adopted. It was moved and seconded that the report be accepted as read; the motion carried. A copy was submitted for the Secretary's records.

Corresponding Secretary's Report

C. Secretary Jose Garza reported that ten more members had asked for the newsletter to be sent to them via email which further reduced printing and mailing expenses. His report was accepted as read.

Committee Reports

There were no committee reports due or presented.

Membership

Patricia Clark, Doug Clark, Larry White and Don Bucksar had their third readings. All were accepted as members of GFSC.

Range Masters' Reports

High Power Rifle Report—11 shooters fired the May match which was two John C. Garand A courses, one with M1's and a second with Springfields and other various types of rifles. Some shooters are asking if they can sign a waiver to use the pits as is. The report was accepted as given.

Trap—March revenue was $618 and approximately $360 was taken from the Challenge Shoot.

Pistol Report--The pistol match “was a great match.” P3 needs some grading to fill in erosion channels.

There will be another Round Robin at Oak Tree on June 14 at 8 AM. Two shooters are still needed to fill out the teams.

There will be a Fun match held on the Sunday following the work party (May 31.) Price is reported to be $30 and many different events will be presented.

The rangemasters' reports were accepted as read.

CRC

Additional bids for road paving have not yet been received. Intercom installation will be done at the next work party. Weed sprayer operators are needed for the work party. Boxes for release forms will be made for installation at the various ranges. April income minus expenses had a negative balance of $2027. The mortgage for the range has a remaining balance of $153,058 and the land acquisition fund has a balance of $222,588. The environmental committee is proposing lead retention systems for the ranges. Surface mining of lead continues on the lower range.

Old Business

Don Bucksar understood that Gopher Saturday was the last Saturday of the month and was not present to do May kitchen duty. He apologized for his mistake and volunteered for the June kitchen duty.

The proposed amendment to the Constitution changing the number and terms of trustees was read for its second time.

Raffle

The monthly 50/50 raffle had $35 for the pot. The pot was divided into a $20 payout and a $15 payout; the first was won by Patty Clark; the second was won by Larry White. Both were donated back to the club.

New Business

It was moved and seconded to rescind the honorary memberships of Ron Christie and Frank Meccia because they no longer shoot with GFSC. The motion was adopted.

Victor Mainwal moved to appoint Dave Marcinkus as trustee replacing Al Pulley who is leaving the area. The motion was seconded and adopted.

Victor Mainwal moved to withdraw his motion to amend the Constitution to change the number of trustees from 3 to 5 and the change the length of their terms to 10 years, 5 years, 3 years and two of 1 year. The motion was seconded and adopted.

John Manning moved to amend the Constitution to add one trustee with a term of five years and one trustee with a term of three years. The motion was seconded and adopted and will be read at the next two meetings.
